I have always loved working with my hands. As a child, I couldn’t go outside without stuffing my pockets full of sticks and pebbles to work magic with when I got home. Little has changed since then, except maybe the level of creativity, usefulness and beauty of the magic. Today I am still inspired by Nature, using it to express myself through intricate, very personal pieces of adornment.
My hands have always been busy. For many years I was a professional dressmaker, sewing runway gowns for the international company Burda Patterns. I authored books and taught classes on specialized sewing techniques. For 25 years I have been a registered acupressure therapist, and taught Acu-Yoga and Tai Chi… finding love and inspiration in what wonderful creations we are ourselves.
Whether in the kitchen baking bread or making jewelry at my workbench, I love being an artisan. I love making that one-of-a-kind object that is instilled with the artist’s essence and holding the “maker’s mark” yet at the same time holding its own spirit. I am at my best when working passionately, stirred by simple ideas and natural objects… allowing Nature to work her magic through my hands.
