Bohemian, Earthy and Natural!
My jewelry is raw and authentic, but has a feminine twist and sparkle. With the idea of showing off the beauty of a stone in it’s natural, raw state, I try to imbibe a simple and natural feel in each piece I create. Where crystals and sparkly stones are concerned I have the wonderment of a child and a fascination that it could possibly grow out of the earth and be so special.
I prefer the base metals of copper, brass, steel, and even iron in it’s annealed form, are what I have never lost a love of working with. The warmth of copper and it’s malleability, the matte black of iron and how it translates well into casual and earthy jewelry cajole me to play with them. Silver-plated copper wire teases me to scuff it down here and there so that the copper shows through, as if it were aged with regular use, and design-wise it relates to the other copper parts.
Heavily hand-forged links combine with ancient and earthy accents. Quartz crystals, raw and polished semi-precious gemstones, ammonites and other fossils, small creek pebbles and raw glitzy mica-infused stones are wrapped together and ornamentally secured with lead-free Silver Gleem solder. Random and knobby, it reminds me of dirt clumped tree roots. Pearls and occasionally rhinestones, are in affinity with wooden beads cut from tree branches I find in my yard and are drilled and polished. Just about anything I take a notion to adding will find its way into my jewelry.
